These insects are flat, reddish-brown and about the size of an apple pip. They hide in mattress seams, behind the headboard and in sockets near the bed, and come out at night to bite. Clusters of itchy bumps, tiny blood spots on the pillow and black specks are the warning signs.
We inspect not only the bed but also the surrounding rooms, as bed bugs wander. Heat is usually our main treatment, with a targeted follow-up where needed. After a trip, unpack your suitcase in the bathroom and wash clothes at sixty degrees or more.
Flea treatment in Rotterdam
Back from holiday and bitten on the ankles straight away? There is a good chance you have fleas. While you were away, the pupae lay waiting in the floor, and as soon as there is movement again, the young fleas emerge. It usually started with a dog or cat, sometimes with a previous occupant who kept pets.
Fleas only disappear when the animal and the house are tackled at the same time. Your vet takes care of your pet; we treat floors, gaps, furniture and baskets. Pharaoh ants are another matter: minute, orange-yellow ants with nests spread throughout a heated building. They turn up in hospitals, care homes and high-rise flats, precisely because it is warm there all year round.
Spraying often makes a pharaoh ant problem worse, because the colony splits into new nests. That is why we identify the species first. For garden ants, bait on the trail combined with sealing works well. Pharaoh ants need a patient, building-wide approach with bait at many points. Keep sweet products sealed and sweep up crumbs daily.
Woodworm treatment in Rotterdam
Rotterdam largely rose again in concrete after the war, but Kralingen, Delfshaven, Blijdorp and Hillegersberg still have plenty of homes with timber joists and floors. That is where we find woodworm, the larva of the common furniture beetle. Holes of one to two millimetres and creamy bore dust on the floor give it away. Oval holes of half a centimetre or more suggest the house longhorn beetle, which can do more serious damage to roof timbers.

Is there a brown, humming cluster hanging from a branch or a lamp post? Then a swarm of bees has probably landed.
